Wandering the West 2010 - Yellowstone National Park

These are small sketchbook drawings worked up in mixed media of watercolor, graphite and colored pencil.The largest is double-paged  5" X 7" and the smallest at about 2" square. They were all plein-aire artworks and all done in the field 
Herds of buffalo gathering together by the hundreds moving via a narrow forest ridge to pasture in the Lamar Valley


Buffalo getting a steam bath from open boiling hot mud pots and steam vents

Steaming hot mineral pool & dead lodgepole pines killed by the intense heat of the water

awesome! love the minerals in the water. get to throw some super saturated psychedelic colors in the piece.
